Well, I pulled in the drive
Thinking how day at the flowers were looking
Then I walked to the house
Thinking I'd smell the food are cooking
But the stove in the kitchen
Was almost as cold
As the note my baby left
Saying she was gone
For good this time
To take good care of her pets
Now there's nobody here
But me and the kitten
And the puppy and the parakeet
The puppy won't bark
And the kitten won't purr
And the bird won't sing for me
It's so quiet I can almost
Hear the teardrops
Dripping down my cheek
There's nobody here
But me and the kitten
And the puppy and the parakeet
Then I looked out the window
At the little bitty tree she planted
It was all dropped over
Like it didn't have the heart for standing
I couldn't help thinking
How everything seem
To live for a woman's love
And how all of us
Were already missing
My baby's tender touch
Now there's nobody here
But me and the kitten
And the puppy and the parakeet
The puppy won't bark
And the kitten won't purr
And the bird won't sing for me
It's so quiet I can almost
Hear the teardrops
Dripping down my cheek
There's nobody here
But me and the kitten
And the puppy and the parakeet
There's nobody here
But me and the kitten
And the puppy and the parakeet
